How to Publish a Book on Amazon, My Journey

How Not to Life

Maybe you or your child is an aspiring author or just looking for an interesting new arts and craft idea to get into or have an idea you want to get out there that you put on paper. This is here as a how to and glimpse into me dipping my toes into the water of the world of writing and getting published. As I am currently writing a lengthy book I thought I would do something on a smaller scale to get a small peek into what to expect. This will touch upon that small peek, from page format to editing, things I have learned and links to helpful content to get published via Kindle on Amazon.

Publishing on Amazon, Starting Out

First, I came up with the concept of having illustrations depicting funny/interesting situations with a blurb on top mockingly saying how it was a good idea then underneath basically saying not to do such things. I started drawing the situations on my tablet and then writing the blurb up top. Once I had mad enough of them it was time to put them into an acceptable format using information from the link below.

Publish a Book on Amazon, Kindle Format

Using the information from the link above I laid everything out in the suggested form and started inserting the various illustrations and adding commentary underneath why doing such a thing is not wise. The link below provides the accepted file formats that can integrate into Kindle.

Self Publishing on Amazon, Kindle Create

Once the commentary was written I downloaded Kindle Create and uploaded my .doc file of the illustrations and commentary into it. You can find the link by clicking on the picture below.

Preview and Export

Once you have everything to your liking make sure you preview it, you will find that located in the top right hand corner next to the export button. Once you are satisfied, venture back up to the top right hand corner and hit that export button.

Amazon Kindle Review

Once you hit that export button it will be reviewed by Amazon which for me took about 72 hours and then I received an email saying it went live.
